Opera founder Say Goodbye

Opera founder Jon von Tetzchner, the company decided to leave the browser. But he does not sell its shares.

As quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (28/06/2011), Jon von Tetzchner has decided to leave the company he founded it.

However, according to Reuters, Tetzchner will retain 12.3 percent stake it owns in the Norwegian software company.

"I may be more ambitious and want to move faster across the field than what is desired by the current management. I have no intention to sell or reduce the shareholding of the Opera," Tetzchner said.

This man served as CEO of Opera since its foundation in 1995 until 2010. Since 2010 he served as Strategic Advisor and still quite active in the company.

According TheInquirer, discharge Tetzchner is due to disagreement with the existing management. The founder of Opera criticized the focus on quarterly results and not on the broader picture.

However, Tetzchner claimed to still believe in the Opera and will continue to support the company. He believes the Opera products can make a difference in the market.

"We had a fun few years, and just say Jon has made a great company it is not enough," said Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera, in a statement.

"He has taught many things to me and all who work here. He believed, and continue to drive, the innovations that we see is always trying to imitate by competitors," continued Boilesen.
