Based on several reports, Box was identified unresponsive and taken to Mercy Hospital in El Reno. He was used in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, exactly where he was pronounced dead.
"The University household is deeply saddened with the tragic death of student-athlete Austin Box. Our hearts visit his household and pals," school president David Boren said within a statement.
A spokeswoman in the medical examiner's workplace stated that they don't expect a trigger of death to become identified Thursday.
Box began in five games last season and recorded 37 tackles. He graduated recently.
