Baghdad - The gunman killed eight Iraqi soldiers and burn their corpses. The incident occurred at a checkpoint in western Iraq.
"Male-unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint situated among Haditha and Baiji, killing eight soldiers," stated a police officer who declined to be named told AFP on Tuesday (09/06/2011).
Embedding the police, armed groups are then gathered the soldiers and weapons put the bodies of soldiers in a vehicle and burned it.
The attack occurred about 100 kilometers northeast of Haditha in Anbar province. The soldiers are members of the Army division to-7.
The checkpoint was situated on a strategic road linking the two Sunni provinces: Anbar and Salaheddin. Via these streets, the Iraqi insurgents generally carry weapons among the two provinces.
