Serena to the semi-final, Zvonareva crashes out

New York - Serena Williams moved into the semifinals of the U.S. Open Grand Slam following beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Though Vera Zvonareva stopped within the quarterfinal.

Facing Pavlyuchenkova in the quarterfinal on Friday (09/09/2011) pm dawn, Serena won in straight sets. The 28th seed was leading 7-5 and 6-1 in 1 hour 19 minutes.

In the semifinals, Serena will meet the winner of the duel Caroline Wozniacki vs. Andrea Petkovic.

Meanwhile, second seed Vera Zvonareva had to swallow the bitter pill if you meet Samantha Stosur (Australia). The Russian minister was helpless and lost the game Stosur 3-6, 3-6.

Stosur will meet Flavia Pennetta (Italy) or Angelique Kerber (Germany) within the semifinals.
